Elizabeth Mary Mazak
Masters in Mental Health Counseling
Elizabeth earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of South Florida in 1992 and her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Stetson University in 1995. She worked 13 years with Hospice as the Bereavement Manager, Volunteer Manager and worked with patients and their families to help them cope with the dying process.
Elizabeth has also worked with youth and their families with behavioral and parenting issues at Our Children First. She was the Outpatient Supervisor at Haven Recovery Center and supervised therapists at three different locations. She also worked directly with the clients one on one and facilitated group therapy.
Elizabeth has a fourth degree black belt in Savate which is a French style of kickboxing and a first degree black belt in Krav Maga which is an Israeli military style of self-defense. She has also counseled survivors of domestic abuse and used the knowledge she has in martial arts as a therapeutic tool to help empower these women. Elizabeth is certified as a LEAP instructor which specializes in teaching women’s self-defense. She also runs a pet sitting business and offers multiple services to meet her clients’ needs.
Elizabeth will be teaching Big Oak’s new educational program that will focus on helping youth to examine their motivation for pursuing things they think will “fix them,” such as buying a wolf, but require a level of commitment that is beyond their level of maturity, sense of responsibility and financial capability at this point in their lives.
