Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide permanent Sanctuary for neglected and abused, captive-born wolves
and wolf dogs, to glorify God by the manner in which we care for them and to exemplify the
life-transforming power of His grace in the lives of people, by sharing the miraculous
transformations the abused wolves undergo, as a result of the grace we extend to them.

Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary has a unique, divinely inspired mission that helps people living with a sense of fear and condemnation understand who God is to them, how He really feels about them and come to understand exactly what His grace has done for them. The heart-warming examples of how the previously abused, rescued wolves respond to the grace we extend them to be exactly who and what they are here, exemplifies the life-transforming power of God’s grace in the lives of people, once they fully grasp it.

When the previously abused wolves arrive here, they are afraid of us and confused because they never know which of their natural behaviors will cause us to punish them. Why? Because punishment was a large part of their previously abusive lives!

Rules and laws that were impossible for them to keep were imposed on them,
causing a mind-set of “performance-based” love and acceptance.

But once they’re here at the sanctuary, that type of relationship with their care-takers ceases to exist! Here, we extend them the grace to be exactly who and what they are, with all of their confusion and fear-based abuse issues, free from all dog rules and human expectations and with full immunity from any type of punishment.

Over time, they gradually come to realize that nothing they do to us as a result of the fears created during their previous abusive lives will cause us to treat them in any way other than with love and nurture. As they come to know “who and what we are to them,” they not only lose their fear of us, but they actually begin to desire our presence, thereby allowing a loving, trusting and intimate relationships with us to develop.

THIS IS A MIRROR IMAGE OF THE PROCESS PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM CONDEMNATION AND FEAR UNDERGO ONCE THEY REALIZE WHO AND WHAT JESUS IS TO THEM, HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS COVERED ALL OF OUR SINS AND THAT THERE’S NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS!

Unfortunately though, due to the severity and duration of their abuse, the “performance based” love and acceptance thinking is so ingrained in some of the wolves that they’re never “completely” free from this mental and emotional bondage. They’re either constantly focusing on trying to do everything right—behaving the way they think you want them to behave, or they stay away from us altogether.

The wolves in this category are habitually preoccupied with their behaviors, your reactions to them and your demeanor at all times, and it’s a bondage that drastically reduces the quality of their lives.

It is the people in this category who We believe will benefit the most from the examples we’ll be sharing about the previously abused wolves’ responses to the grace we extend them here.

We will do our best to articulate these life-transforming and heart-warming examples and continually refine our skills in doing so, in order to better exemplify how God’s grace works in the lives of people, once they sufficiently grasp it.

Romans 5:20—God’s law was given so that people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful, undeserved “gift” of grace became even more abundant!

SO HIS GRACE IS FAR MORE POWERFUL THAN EVEN THE WORST OF OUR SINS!
