Bill Callaghan

In memory of a dear friend…

Bill Callaghan was a cherished volunteer here at the sanctuary for several years, yet unfortunately he passed away a couple of years back. Bill loved the animals here, but more importantly, they loved him.

Anyone who knows anything about abused wolves knows that this speaks to the nature of Bill’s HUGE heart! He had a gentle spirit and the amount of grace he extended to others was uncommon.

Bill was especially fond of Ariel who, along with her pack-mate Abraham, is with Bill now in heaven where they’re enjoying each other in perfect health and peace, where there’s no more fear, pain or sorrow. Revelation 21:4And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more mourning, nor crying nor pain, because the former things have passed away.”

Before Bill went to be with the Lord, he made sure that he left us something in his will—it was a generous amount! While his gift allowed us to resolve many issues here, which made an enormous impact on the lives of these animals, I think it’s greatest value to me was that it reflected his confidence in me and confirmed that as tough as our circumstances were here and as often as we’d question what we were doing with our lives, we were doing exactly what God wanted us to do!

When I think back about my time here with Bill and his love for the animals, my mind immediately jumps to the faces on our “Wolf Memorial” page. I can see them all now in all their perfection, with a healthy, happy and fulfilled Bill Callaghan “loving them up good” in paradise! See you soon my good friend!
