Bill Callaghan
Past volunteer and dear friend
In memory of Bill Callaghan
Bill Callaghan was a cherished volunteer here at the sanctuary for several years, yet unfortunately he passed away a couple of years back. Bill loved the animals here, but more importantly, they loved him.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: Each respective area is thoughtful and diligent in meeting the day to day needs of each animal. I most enjoy the platforms that move into the trees and on any good spring or fall day you can find a comfortable wolf stretched out on the platform with a cool breeze blowing by.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: I love watching the animals interact with one another, it’s truly an amazing experience to be able to see that other side of them that you only get to witness when they are in a environment where they are relaxed and free to be themselves.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: My favorite aspect of this sanctuary is the commitment and devotion of John and Debbie on providing the epitome of what an animal sanctuary should be. They have sacrificed and dedicated their lives to ensure the comfort and safety of the animals here.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: The large enclosures with the opened play areas for each pack but most of all I love the platforms and the way they are placed in trees. I know all the animals love them too because they spent so much time up there looking out over the property.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: I’d say their enclosures are my favorite. Make no mistake about it; compared to their natural environment in the wild, these animals are still in captivity. But seeing them running around in over 7500 sq. ft. of space, playing on their 9’ tall platforms, cooling themselves in their 700 gallon pools…

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: My favorite aspect of the sanctuary is that all the enclosures are created with the wolves’ needs being placed first. They are kept natural, leaving as many trees in place as possible and have plenty of room for the wolves to explore their surroundings and play with each other.

Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: My favorite aspect(s) of Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary is the incredible peace and pleasure it brings. Upon entering the sanctuary there is a certain peace I cannot fully translate. When you exit your car and are greeted by enthusiastic, loving wolves you know there is something extraordinary that is about to transpire.
